Khmer Studies Symposium 2005
Page 2
A symposium for local and international scholars involved in Khmer Studies was held at the University of Sydney on the 18th - 19th July 2005. Over 50 people attended the symposium, presenting research from a very broad cross-section of disciplines over the two days.

The symposium had several objectives, including:

  • Discussing the convergence of different disciplines (particularly geography, archaeology and government) from the Sciences and the Arts within contemporary Khmer Studies;
  • Showcasing the range and breadth of research in this area in local universities;
  • Helping to foster and promote multidisciplinary research on and within Cambodia; and
  • Providing local postgraduate students with the opportunity to gain input on their research from a range of international visitors who will be in Australia in July.
