NEAF/CCE Tour Program
Near Eastern Archaeology Tours have been running for over 16 years. In recent years they have been run in conjunction with the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Sydney (CCE). Destinations over the years have included Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Morocco, Iran, Mali, Mexico and China. These tours are designed to suit people with a fascination in both archaeology and history and they are suited to the lay-person with a general interest in the subject. Our tour leaders are experts in their field and they make sure that their personal love of travel and archaeology is passed on to tour participants. |

Hanibal's Homeland: Tunisia and Libya8 - 28 March 2010Tour Leader: Dr. Stephen Bourke
Hannibal and Carthage, two irrevocably linked names that conjure up images of heroic deeds and a once mighty and prosperous sea-faring civilisation destined to suffer a grim fate at the hands of Rome. But Hannibal’s homeland in modern-day Tunisia along with bordering Libya has many more riches to reveal to the adventurous traveller: haunting desertscapes and oases, pre-Carthaginian stone-age remains, Graeco-Roman and Byzantine-Christian city ruins, Islamic medinas and villages, Medieval fortresses. A fascinating mosaic of vibrant cultures – past and present. To enquire about this tour, please call Lissa Sharp at 9036 4766 (The Centre for Continuing Education, University of Sydney).
