National Sorry Day 2008

Wangka Maya Link Up hosted a National Sorry Day lunch on Monday 26th May, 2008. Guests came together to share stories and watch films. One of the films we watched was a documentary of the Federal Government’s Apology to the Stolen Generations, delivered by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on February 13th, 2008. Reconciliation Australia produced the documentary to commemorate Sorry Day 2008.

Wangka Maya is very pleased to welcome linguist Henry Fraser and student Naomi McSkimming as volunteers for the next 4 weeks to the Wangka Maya team! Henry and Naomi are from Queensland and will be working on recording stories with Nullagine people for a new Wangka Maya production 'Stories from Nullagine'.

For Now and Forever

Wangka Maya worked with the WA Museum on the writing of a book about cultural storehouses, 'For Now and Forever: An analysis of current and emerging needs for Aboriginal cultural stores and repositories in WA'. The books has been released and is available as a free down load on http://www.collectionsaustralia.net/sector_info_item/101 .
