What kind of Buddha image is that? Page 2

On the left, Ayuthya style- the flame on top of the head is broken off. On the right, an image in the Chiang San style from the north of Thailand-look at the wonderful flowing limbs the artist has moulded! Style is no indication of age. Buddhist artisans have been faithfully reproducing all the ancient styles until today.

This is a beautiful but stylistically indeterminate piece (stylistically indeterminate is a clever academic way of saying "dunno") dabbed with some gold leaf- a common feature of images in homes or temples in Thailand, Laos, Burma and Cambodia.
